New Release - Donina Lynn - Lose Control

Hello everyone, a big cheer for Donina Lynn, who’s here today to tell us about her newest release, Lose Control. Let us begin with the beautiful cover by Jay Aheer, whose artwork makes all Evernight authors a bit wobbly around the knees:

Myles Oliver Dayton likes control in every aspect of his life. He desires it, demands it in the board room and his bedroom. But when his teenage crush walks into his office to be his temporary assistant, the tight restraint he kept on his emotions starts to come undone. Something he couldn’t allow. His idea of love is demanding and possessive, and in the end there would only be pain—for both of them.

Cassie Sorrelson grabs onto opportunities when they come along and assisting Myles with all his demands is an opportunity she isn’t about to pass up. Sexy and controlling, he has her breathing hard and soon yearning for more than a few days together at the corporate retreat. When he suddenly pulls back, though, and refuses the desire she knows is running hot within him, Cassie is going to have to work at getting what she wants … making Myles lose control.

Are you teased?

Let’s see what Donina can tell us about the book:

"Thank you having me here today! I’m so excited to be sharing my new release Lose Control with you!

Myles and Cassie’s story isn’t about wine and romance. Their journey is about finding love with someone who you not only click with personally, but physically as well.

Let’s be honest, when it comes to sex we all have our likes and dislikes, right? We have our preferences and what we’re willing to do. On the flipside, we also have that list in our heads of deal breakers that when mentioned make you want to run in the other direction because there’s NO WAY you’re giving that a try. Kink-meter has officially been pegged, thank you very much.

Lose control is about finding that person you’re compatible and comfortable with. The one who has the same wants and desires, and is perfect for you both in and out of the bedroom. It’s about falling for someone who can love every part of who you are … even if some of those parts can be a bit naughty. ;-)"

Well, we are all for this naughty business here! Let's read an excerpt!

“What the hell are you thinking?”
The door barely clicked shut before Cassie let loose on Myles. By the time she’d walked down the steps and made it to the furthest room of the lower level—where hopefully neither Blake nor his lawyer could hear what most assuredly was going to be shouting—she’d mentally worked herself up to the boiling point. She was beyond pissed, and he was damn well going to know it, too.
“For a man who likes to proclaim he needs to be in control of everything, you sure as hell don’t show it.” Cassie couldn’t stand still. Her nerves and temper were prompting her to pace back and forth as she flung her hands around in the air, emphasizing her rant. “Did you happen to notice his lawyer? I could see the dollar signs light up in his eyes when you lost it up there. He was just waiting for you to make a move. Ever hear of a lawsuit? You were about an inch away from getting one slapped on your ass. And over what? Because you thought my honor needed protecting? I neither want nor need any protection or help from you.”
Cassie stopped, planted her hands on her hips, and tapped out her annoyance with her foot while she stared at him. Waiting. For anything. Any type of reaction…at all. Of course, there was nothing from him other than the stoic, stern look on his face. The man was insufferable and she’d probably have better luck trying to beat an answer out of a rock.
“For Christ’s sake, Myles, say something.”
“He will treat you with respect. No one talks to what’s mine like that.”
“Mine?” Cassie shouted at him. “Now all of a sudden I’m yours? A few hours ago, you made it clear you didn’t want me and now I’m yours? I’m nobody’s but my own person. Let me make myself clear so there will be no misunderstandings between us. I can speak for myself, fight my own battles, and handle someone like Blake. And who says I don’t want to go with him? If I want to fuck him, the lawyer, or every man in the whole state of Colorado, I damn well will. You gave up the right to have your opinion heard the minute you pushed me away.”
Tears stung the back of her eyes, and Cassie headed for the door before all the anger, frustration, and hurt threatening to pour out ran down her cheeks like a river. Grasping the handle, she threw over her shoulder, “You have no say in what I do or don’t do.”
“The hell I don’t.”

ABOUT DONINA:
Donina Lynn lives in a small rural Pennsylvania town with her daughter and German Shepherd.  Coincidentally, it's the same town where she grew up.  There was a time, however, when she ventured away from her home and moved around a bit, crossed a few state lines, and got a degree or two.  But, eventually she found her way back to where it all began.
When she's not at her day job, hanging with her family, curled up with her Kindle, or typing away at the computer, you can find her in front of the TV watching anything paranormal, sci-fi, or a good action flick.  Respect and admiration go to any show or movie that can incorporate explosions, big guns, some ass-kicking, and gratuitous butt shots.
Her addiction to romance novels started as soon as she could turn a page and has carried with her until she decided it was time to fulfill a promise she made to herself and give writing one a whirl.  Her goal is to create stories and characters that the reader can relate to, laugh with and have them routing for that happily-ever-after.  If there happens to be a few steamy scenes, well...that's just an added bonus.

Elizabeth M. Valey - A Tempest of Passion

Hello, readers, we are so very lucky to have here today one really lovely author, Elyzabeth M.Valey, with her latest release, A Tempest of Passion. Let’s start by enjoying the beautiful cover, which drags straight into a Fine Regency atmosphere, and then, move on to learn something about Elyzabeth research on the period!

Emily Bunsbury is most definitely not a fainter. She prefers to leave that sort of shenanigans to young debutants and to those desperate to land a husband. She is neither.

Except last night she passed out and was rescued by none other than the town’s most eligible bachelor: William Dalton.  Of course, she wants nothing to do with him, but her heart and body don’t seem to be in agreement…

Banished from his pack for a crime he did not commit, William Dalton does not have the desire or the time to court women, yet, when he meets Emily Bunsbury he is incapable of staying away. Certain that it is nothing more than a passing fancy and not the mating pull, he pursues her.

However, as the unknown threat that expelled him from his pack strikes again, William realizes that Emily means much more and he must keep her safe. Now, if only she’d agree to his terms…

As danger grows with each passing day, will the couple learn to trust each other or will their love be nothing more than a temporary tempest of passion?

Greetings everyone! I’m very happy to here today with my latest release, A Tempest of Passion. This novel which took me two years to complete was a piece of work. *grin* However, one of the things I thoroughly enjoyed about it was researching the regency period. Below is a short list of some of the things I discovered:
  1. Typical regency names. Did you know that the suffixes -ton and -bury were common during that period? Hence the name William Dalton and Emily Bunsbury.
  1. The art of writing love letters during the regency era. Rule number one: It must always come from the heart.
My dearest Emily,
The sun is barely rising and I find myself at my desk attempting to put into words the emotion that pierces my heart every time I think of you.
  1. Wedding procedures. Most wedding back in the time were private family affairs with few attendees. Oh, and wearing white was not a requirement for the bride.
  1. The exterior and interior of regency houses both in and out of London.
It was a modest brick house with a dirt path lined with flowers that led to a columned entrance.
  1. Traveling. It’s not as easy as mapping out the route and being there in a few hours. One must take into consideration the means of travel, the people coming, the baggage, the roads, the stops…
  1. Fashion. The stays, the gloves, the riding outfits, the dancing outfits, the bonnets… ah, the beauty of the era.
  1. Slang. Oh yes. Did you think people back then didn’t have any?  Zoosk! A mild oath muttered more than once by my heroine is a personal favorite.
  1. Visual Inspiration. You can have a look at my visual inspiration in A Tempest of Passion’s Pinterest Board.
And so much more that might not be openly visible in the novel but that I hope you see in the little details and enjoy as much as I enjoyed discovering it.

Excerpt:
“Perhaps you can enlighten me. You’re an accomplished dancer as far as I can see and you seem to enjoy it, even if you did tell me you didn’t particularly like it. Why don’t the other men ask you to dance? Must I be on the lookout lest you do something outrageous?”
They reunited on the floor. Emily extended her right foot forward allowing her weight to rest on it before closing her other foot and hopping. She bit back a smile.
“I think most men in town surrendered in their pursuit for me to dance,” she admitted after a moment. “I refused all of them for what I spoke was the truth. I am not fond of dancing.”
“Yet, you’re not chewing on your lips or pulling them in as you have a habit of doing when carrying out unpleasant duties.” William chuckled.  “Just like that. Why always so serious, Ms. Bunsbury? Is my company such a heavy weight on your shoulders that you cannot gift me with a smile?”
“Life is serious business, Mr. Dalton,” she replied, going around him in a circle. “There is nothing more odious than being forced to smile.”
“Of course, I know it well.” His friendly smile vanished, his eyes losing their luster.
“I did not mean to upset you,” Emily hurried to clarify, suddenly desperate to see the gay light present in his eyes again.
William’s lips curled upwards, though the gesture did not reach his eyes.
“It was not your fault, Ms. Bunsbury. You inadvertently awoke some sad memories. Life is serious business,” he conceded, twirling her, “but that is precisely why we must enjoy the precious good moments such as these, for we never know how long they will last.”
“Your opinion of good moments is definitely low if you count this to be one.”
She was teasing him. By God, she was teasing him and though it took him a moment to realize it, she was glad at the sound of his rich laughter. Her lips twitched and she found herself smiling in response to his boisterous mirth.
“Of course I do,” he said after a few seconds. “I am dancing with a beautiful woman on a fine autumn day. It cannot get much better than that?” He winked, reminding her of his ulterior masculine motives and causing her cheerfulness to vanish. “Though you probably think differently,” William added.
“Indeed.”
The melody having come to an end, Emily curtsied and turned to walk away from William Dalton. She’d barely removed herself from the center of the room, when he gripped her elbow. Emily bit back a gasp. Every time he touched her something inside her awoke with a hunger that could not be appeased. Tilting her head back so she could look him in the eyes, she chose to ignore the way her heart leapt.
“That was only one dance, Ms. Bunsbury. You promised me two.”
“Surely, you wouldn’t want to waste your good moments dancing another tune with me, Mr. Dalton.” She made to leave but his fingers on her arm tightened. Anger flared in his eyes and his good-natured smile vanished.
“You think little of yourself, Ms. Bunsbury. I am surprised.”
“You are in the wrong, Sir,” she said as politely as she could muster. “I simply believe that another woman would enjoy your attentions much more than myself.”
Pulling her arm from his grasp, she veered around, desperate for some fresh air. Faster than she could muster, he stepped in front of her, blocking her path. Curling her hands into fists, she fought against the urge to shove him out of the way.
“Mr. Dalton—!”
“Ms. Bunsbury.”
Emily’s eyes flew to his face at the warning in his tone, her wroth vanishing and scattering into the wind as their gazes clashed.
“I don’t take kindly to broken promises,” he whispered gruffly.
Her breath caught as he reached for her hand, his fingertips sliding sensually over her gloved wrist. Her pulse raced, urging her to move or succumb to the persistent throbbing between her legs.
“You may think yourself fast as a rabbit or cunning like a fox, Ms. Bunsbury, but I am a hunter and catching prey is my favorite sport.”
